The Valuable Moments In Life

Hey guys! Wow…the past few weeks have been a whirlwind! Some seasons of our lives seem accelerated while others seem balanced. You have to learn to wake up with the outlook of “each day is a gift, a new opportunity to see the beauty.”

I had a free afternoon about a week ago (if there is such a thing) so I drove to spend some time with my daughter, Kristen. As many of you already know, she was diagnosed in December with a stage 3 brain tumor. She just completed her chemotherapy and radiation and is doing very well. You will never know how much all of your prayers, letters and support have meant to me and my entire family. We have seen God’s hand with us every step of the way. Kristen has shown us all the epitome of strength, grace and beauty. She brings so much joy to our lives and every day spent with her is a reminder of the valuable moments in life we have all taken for granted. Please continue to pray for her and my entire family – it does not go unnoticed!

I have been traveling and speaking a lot the past few weeks; God is always faithful—I see souls saved and lives transformed, and I leave each evening feeling as though a difference was made. I still always look for the one-on-one touch that really impacts me and gives me the fuel to keep going.

One in particular sticks out from this last week:    I was at a charity luncheon in New York for Safe Horizon (For years they have been at the forefront in helping victims of crime and abuse through their crises:  http://www.safehorizon.org). There were lots of celebrities and executives socializing and making connections. I found myself sitting at my table just taking it all in when I was approached by a woman and two young girls. The two 14-year old girls were victims of domestic violence and had told the woman that out of all the people there at the lunch, they wanted to meet me. They had been blessed by my story – saying that I had given them hope on how God can take someone’s life and turn it around. They may have been excited to meet me, but they will never know how much they blessed me. Looking into their eyes and seeing the hope they have for their future!! In the middle of this luncheon I was overwhelmed with the goodness of God.

On Thursday morning I flew to Atlanta to attend Yolanda King’s funeral, to support my dear friends; I continue to pray for them. Then I came back to Tampa that evening to be with my home church family at Without Walls. They overwhelmed me with their love and support. You will never know how much of a strength that church body is in my life.

All of my children and grandchildren were at my house this past weekend. I love when my home is full of life and laughter – what a joy to walk into a full house!    One evening my sassy granddaughter Emma and I decided to bake a cake. My grandson Drew also wanted to help, so it became a group project – Mimi, Emma & Drew were going to play house at 10:00 PM! There is nothing like chocolate icing on the nose and licking the bowl!

This week as we get back into the grid of life, don’t forget to create moments that make you breathe. Even if it means putting chocolate on your own nose!

I believe in you—and remember: your footsteps are ordered by the Lord—nothing is coincidental…even you being on my website and reading this blog!

Love you guys…until next time,
