There’s Glory In Your Story Part2Posted by Paula White - Thu, July 16, 2009 at 09:00 PM Click here to download the sermon notes for “There’s Glory In Your Story Part 2”. John 12:1-11 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead. There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it. But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial. For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.” Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus. John 11:3-4 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” 3 Areas of Focus John 11:4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” I. The Expression of God Your problem is a set up for his provision… There is a transition in the New Testament from the Old Testament II Corinthians 3:2-3 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. This is indication you are a work in “public” not “private” He is showing us that over and over again the intimate details of our dilemmas, discrepancies are going to be on display. Why Would God Allow That? Glory is an expression of the beauty, power, greatness, majesty of God revealed to us and seen in out lives. God who is spirit and eternal has chosen mankind to manifest His Will from heaven to earth. God is not a line because He has NO beginning and end…He is a circle→ eternal, everlasting. He is endless from everlasting to everlasting. An eternal God. Man lives on a “time-line” while God can step in and out of time according to His purposes or plans. It might not be God sent but will always be God used. e. His Purpose II. Your Experience a. His expression is created by your experience And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense. Isaiah 4:5 i. Create in Hebrew means through a formative process, He re-fashions, remakes and alters. b. the story of Lazarus If what you have gone through will cause many people to believe or respond to God…then may your motto be: ALL of this is important for our focus because you can understand your destiny by understanding your history. Real ministry comes from places where you have bled in and lived. c. Stones are significant in the Bible Isaiah 62:10-12 Pass through, pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations. The LORD has made proclamation to the ends of the earth: “Say to the Daughter of Zion, ‘See, your Savior comes! See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.’’” They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the LORD; and you will be called Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted. TAKE AWAY THE STONE Isaiah 5:1-2 I will sing for the one I love a song about his vineyard: My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside. He dug it up and cleared it of stones and planted it with the choicest vines. He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well. Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit. d. Remember in life, your reactions are based on your interpretations of an event that leads you to a thought that evokes an emotion. III. Others’ Evidence Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
