Paula White Ministries and Glory Power Ministries, Don and Myrna Paprocky: Working Together to bring God’s love to South Africa

Paula White Ministries supports the efforts of missionaries Don and Myrna Paprocky and Glory Power Ministries as they bring God’s love, hope, and provision to thousands of orphaned children, impoverished families, and destitute villagers in and around Giyani, South Africa.

Through a variety of outreaches, programs, and mass evangelizing services in the region, PWM has assisted Glory Power Ministries in leading at least 6000 to accept Jesus as Savior…feeding 21,000 orphans, widows, and starving villagers….distributing clothes and shoes to over 1,000….giving toys to over 2,000…providing Bibles to 2,400 individuals who had none…supplying bedding and toiletries to those in need…and helping the destitute and unemployed start their own businesses.

Giyani is in the Limpopo province, the poorest province in South Africa -- yet it still draws refugees from neighboring Mozambique and Zimbabwe, looking for a better life!

Don describes a recent outreach at a Mozambican refugee camp:

“On January 23, 2007, Glory Power Ministries had its largest outreach so far in South Africa. God put it on our hearts to help the thousands of Mozambicans who live in a refugee camp on the outskirts of our town, Giyani. They have no electricity and no toilets, and unemployment is about 98%. They live in cave-like mud structures that they have built (which can be washed away by heavy rains). Many of these people go days without food.

We printed fliers and coupons for the Mozambican leaders to distribute to 4,000 people in their camp. Two sets of coupons were distributed - one set was "Food" coupons and the other set was "Gift" coupons. The coupons entitled these Mozambicans to receive free food and gifts at our outreach.

We were blessed with some great volunteers - around 70. We set up our event on an old soccer field at the edge of the refugee camp. We set up playground equipment for the children, many of whom have never had the pleasure of enjoying [one before]… We hired four women to give free neck massages and free manicures to the adults – the Mozambican women loved it!

Approximately 5,000 people showed up at the outreach! After hours of fun and music, we held a service. An ensemble from one of the local churches led the singing. Then Myrna continued the worship with dance - as usual when Myrna dances in South Africa, the people go wild with enthusiasm!... Don preached a powerful message on how God would love to take what the world looks at as impossible and worthless and turn their situation around. Though the sun was brutal with no trees or shade available, most of the people listened intently about the love of God that Don shared. An invitation to receive Jesus was given, and it was estimated that at least 1,200 prayed to accept Christ as Savior for the first time. Praise God!

Glory Power Ministries has a variety of ministry projects touching different needs: “What Price a Soul” Evangelism Ministry, “Five Loaves and Two Fish” Feeding Ministry, “Healing Touch” Ministry to the Sick, and “Remember These” Orphans Ministry. The following describe some of the heart wrenching facts of life in Giyani, and how PWM’s support of Glory Power Ministries is helping to combat this hopelessness and despair:

“REMEMBER THESE:

In the days following the outreach, we helped some precious orphans. There were four orphans who live with their elderly granny that we had visited before - in fact, we had planted a vegetable garden behind their hut. We had seen how the four orphans had slept on only a tattered white cloth over a concrete floor. We delivered three mattresses, along with soft sheets, pillow cases and pillows to these orphans. These are the first beds these orphans have ever had. We have included a picture of a couple of the orphans lying on their mattresses with great happiness! We also brought more clothes and food to them.

I have seen many heartbreaking sights since I have been in South Africa, but what probably touched my heart the most was interviewing some of the orphans at the party who headed their families. I was literally brought to tears when I saw children where the oldest child was taking care of the rest of the children, with no parent or relative to help them. What also touched me is that even though we gave many things to the orphans -- food parcels, two meals, clothing, shoes, toys, etc. -- what many of them thanked me for was the hope that they got from the Word that I preached... on how God wants to make them great (Psalm 71:21) and that if God could make an orphan village girl named. Esther great, He can do the same for them.”

PWM also supports Glory Power Ministries’ work to put families on the road to self-sufficiency:

HEART FOR WORK

A lady named Rose started attending our church in the village of Magona. She walks a good distance to Magona from her village where she lives with four children. Usually it is 100 degrees or higher. We found out that Rose and her family are very destitute and hungry. Her husband, who was the bread winner, died several months ago. Rose, like many here, cannot find a job… This past month we helped Rose start a fish business. The people in the villages love to eat fish with their mealie meal (corn meal, their staple). There is a little café in Rose’s village, and the owner of the café is letting Rose keep the frozen fish in his freezer, as Rose doesn’t have electricity. Rose cooks the fish and sells it to the villagers. It’s a big hit in the village. Thank you for helping us make it possible to make a difference in this family’s life.”

Their newest and most ambitious project is the Glory Power Center:

“INTRODUCING - GLORY POWER CENTER:

This past month, the Holy Spirit gave us wisdom and instructions on how to effectively bless more orphans and destitute… We do not have the time to travel to 200 different villages to help meet these needs. We began to feel overwhelmed…but as soon as we gave the burden to the Lord, He put it on our hearts to start a center - GLORY POWER CENTER. Orphans, widows and destitute can come to us at the Center. We plan to bless the whole person, providing for their physical needs with food parcels lasting a month, clothes, shoes, and medical attention from volunteer doctors and nurses; their spiritual needs with evangelism, discipleship, and worship; and emotional needs with counseling and self-esteem seminars…

PLEASE PRAY WITH US THAT GOD GIVES US FAVOR FOR A BUILDING AND RESOURCES, AND ESPECIALLY FOR WISDOM, AS WE UNDERTAKE THIS NEW VISION.”
