Paula White Ministries supports the Northside Center for Child Development (NCCD) in Harlem, New York City. The Center was founded in 1946 by pioneering psychologists Drs. Kenneth and Mamie Phipps Clark, whose research on segregation led to the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision.

Northside Community Center

Established with a mission to foster the healthy mental, physical, and emotional development of children and families, while empowering them to respond constructively to the societal challenges of racism and deprivation, NCCD provides high-quality, comprehensive mental health and educational services.

NCCD strives to develop and enhance the self-esteem and self-respect of all children and families; it not only fulfills a clinical and educational function, but it also works toward community education, action, and advocacy.

Northside Community Center

Services include therapeutic and educational support, individual and family counseling, medical exams and neurological screenings, crisis intervention, schooling, tutoring and homework help, and early intervention for children as young as 9 months old.

NCCD also offers special programs for children with severe emotional disturbances; for parents and caregivers of children with emotional difficulties and language/learning delays; afterschool programs in arts and crafts, karate, dance, and gym; a therapeutic summer day camp; community leadership forums; and parent training.

The Center is comprised of a Health Clinic, Therapeutic Early Childhood Center, Head Start program, and Children’s Library; all services are free of charge to participating children and families.

Northside Community Center

Northside also provides on-site Graduate Student Training for students from Columbia University, New York University, City University, and Yeshiva University for hands-on training in speech therapy, social work, psychology, remedial education and early childhood special education.

Additionally, Northside participates in innovative research collaboratives to better understand children’s mental health and education needs.
