Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward…
—Genesis 13:14
You may be waiting for God to change your situation and circumstances. But God says, “I’m not going to change your situation -- I’m going to give you revelation. And along with revelation, I’ll give you the spirit to believe in that revelation, and to stand on it, act on it, and rest in it -- until the time your situation matches your revelation.”
The fact that you’re reading this now means you’re already moving in His revelation. You’re getting it in your spirit. Now you’ve got to start believing in the revelation – and refocusing on, and seeing your future through it.
You have to start focusing on what God has promised, and believing in His ‘supernatural’ power -- instead of believing what you currently see with your eyes, which are limited to the natural world. And as you change your focus, your perception will begin to change as well…and you will begin to see new, God-designed possibilities for your life that you never saw before.
That is why the Bible declares in Roman 4:17 that you should call those things which are not as though they are. Although God may choose to keep you in your situation, as your focus and perception changes, your attitude about every area of your life will begin to change – and all that revelation will release you into the will of God.
God says, “Lift up your eyes right from where you are.” You may want God to rescue you from what you currently see as financial lack, a dead-end job, a hopeless condition…but God wants you to change your focus, perception, and attitude right in the middle of whatever you’re going through. In God’s system of prosperity you have to stop looking down, stop looking at what’s wrong -- stop looking at the only two pennies you have to rub together right now, and focus on God’s power and promises - because He is the one who will enable you to obtain wealth and prosperity:
But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth…”
— — Deuteronomy 8:18
So take this principle to heart: change your focus! Lift up your head and look beyond your bank account, your current unemployment, your less-than-satisfying job or career. Every morning God gives you another opportunity to move in the faith He has given you…to press forward and take on the challenges before you, in order to possess His promise of better days before you.
God told Abram to lift up his eyes from where he was, because you have to change your focus to see your promise – and you have to see your promise to receive that promise. Which brings us to our next principle of Seed Time and Harvest: See It and Receive It.
