Paula White Ministries supports the vision of Vicki Yohe Ministries’ New Destiny for Children orphanage, located in Jinja, Uganda -- a country that UNICEF estimates to have approximately 2.3 million orphaned children, with as many as a million orphaned by the ravaging disease of AIDS.

Acclaimed worship/gospel singer Vicki Yohe first visited the East African country in the late 1990’s, and felt the move of the Holy Spirit to aid the people she’d met -- and come to love -- in the poverty-stricken nation. “God has given us a mandate to develop an orphanage…the need there is great,” Yohe states on New Destiny’s website. “Our vision is not for a dusty dwelling to simply house homeless children, but rather we will build a haven of refuge for these young people. It will be a place where they can be educated, cared for and empowered; thus the name: New Destiny for Children.”

The first phase of New Destiny has begun with Julian Mercy House, a property able to accommodate as many as 60 children and staff, but Yohe plans to develop New Destiny into a home that will offer a safe, loving, Christ-centered environment for 1,000 children.

Says Yohe, “My heart is in Uganda with these children, as I know we are raising up leaders that will change Uganda and the continent of Africa. So while some may know me as a psalmist, I feel God has called me to be a missionary in this season of my ministry.”
