Paula White Ministries M25 Missions (based on Matthew 25:35-36) outreach is touching lives in Europe, partnering with New Day World Ministries’ “Revival in Switzerland!” to bring the Gospel to a country caught in the dramatic secularism sweeping Europe. 

Through the support of PWM, New Day Ministries’ spirit-led salvation teams have hit the streets of Baden, Zurich, and Muri, Switzerland, leading hundreds of souls to the Lord daily, and bringing the freedom of Christ to a country dominated by state-influenced churches.

Says New Day World Ministries’ founder, David Piper:  “Switzerland is a small country in Eastern Europe.  Traditionally Europe has been considered very dark spiritually… steeped with organized religion and new age belief.  In Switzerland there are two main organized religious organizations which have dominated the country (the Protestant Church and the Roman Catholic Church).  The government of Switzerland works with these institutions of organized religion to take the tithe right out of the people’s paychecks like a tax.”

A statement on www.swissinfo.org, asserts, “Fewer and fewer people adhere to organized religion in the western world. Switzerland is no exception, with a rising number claiming to have no religious affiliation.”  According to the site, more than one in ten of the Swiss population claims "no religious affiliation," up almost 60 per cent on a decade earlier, while “atheists” or “agnostics” account for a little over 11 per cent of the population -- forming the third-largest "religious group" in Switzerland, after the Protestant and Roman Catholic churches.

The number of people who gave no indication of any religious orientation in the most recent census was triple the number ten years earlier.  A further increase of 60 per cent would put the number of non-affiliated near 1.3 million by 2010 -- close to one in five non-believers.  For some, the sharp rise in the number of "non-believers" is proof that religion has become increasingly irrelevant, especially among younger people, many of whom see churches as out of touch.

Shares Piper:  “When we first went to Switzerland in March of this year we could only have meetings in the homes of people who were hungry for God to move. The local church that moves in the Holy Ghost is a rare breed in Switzerland and for the most part has been considered a cult by the Swiss people. Most of the villages in Switzerland are only 400-500 people in population. During our third trip this year we have began to see God moving and connecting the small pockets of hungry believers. Up till now no major ministry has targeted Switzerland because no one has ever thought about her. But because of Switzerland’s importance in our global economic sector, impacting her for Christ would be an important step towards returning God’s bounty into the hands of the righteous – His believers.”

Piper spoke enthusiastically of the many adults, teens and children – on the street, at senior citizens’ homes, in train stations, that were touched by the Gospel, and moved to accept Christ.

“During our last trip, we found people all over the villages that admitted to us that they had never heard the story of Jesus Christ and what He did for the world -- people aging from eight years old, to 88 years old!  We saw God bring in the harvest in mass numbers. Atheists were saved, Muslims were denouncing Mohammed and declaring Jesus to be the Lord and Savior of the world – salvation was happening everywhere!  There was a  Pastor of a small village church that went on the streets with me during our last trip there, who stood and wept… We were able to add new people to his church, and set his people on fire to keep on winning the lost in the village!”
