Earlier this year, Paula White Ministries reached out to the school system of Enterprise, Alabama with a generous endowment to its technology fund, after the devastating March 1st tornado that ripped through the community.
Recently Brenda Weakley, Enterprise School System Technologist, shared a photo of the computers purchased with PWM’s aid, writing: “(We)…wanted Pastor Paula to see what doors she opened for our children with her generosity and compassion. The students are using the library at the Early Childhood Center, where Hillcrest is temporarily located until a school can be built. They are really focused, aren't they? Anyway, please let Pastor Paula know how much we still appreciate her and think of her with gratitude and prayers of thanks.”
Although there were 2 schools that were destroyed -- Enterprise High School and Hillcrest Elementary, which held grades K-6 and the city wide special education/learning disabilities center – when the lives of eight high school students were tragically lost due to the violent tornado, most of the attention and assistance to the region went to the high school, as the town understandably tried to cope with, and heal from, the painful loss of so many young lives.
But Brenda’s daughter, “Paula Today” editor Jen Weakley, shared: “The donation to the Hillcrest Elementary by PWM made the difference between replacing the destroyed computers, or just having to forget about getting computers. These elementary school students, and faculty, felt forgotten, and it really was such a blessing to them to be remembered and helped.”
After receiving news of PWM’s donation earlier this year, Brenda had shared: “I am in shock. What a blessing. I don’t know how to thank Pastor Paula and Paula White Ministries. We thank you for your prayers and the reaching out with love and action. We are working diligently to restore and rebuild – hearts, minds, and structures. God is with us. We feel that every second of every day – that His hand is on us and guiding our decisions… This check will mean so much to our children and the quality of education we want for them. May God bless you and your ministry and hold you in His love and grace. I am still overwhelmed…I feel like laughing and crying at the same time!”
J. Morgan, another school system administrator wrote: “The Enterprise School System has been overwhelmed and is deeply grateful for the response to our tragedy. Our lives will be forever changed, but the good that has come from this will never be forgotten. From the generous donations like yours to a child’s small tribute, every gift has been so very welcome. Our faith in mankind and in the goodness in the hearts of people has certainly been renewed. Thank you for caring and sharing.”
Thank you, Covenant Partners and Friends, for making it happen!
