Paula White Ministries is proud to help support New Life Ministries South Africa (http://www.newlifesa.org) as it fights hunger, poverty, and despair and brings the gospel of Christ to a community in need.

New Life Ministries was launched in January of 2008 by South Africans George and Judy Wagner, who had a vision to reach the people of Qolweni, South Africa. Qolweni (pronounced “cool-weenie,” meaning “village on a hill”) is a poverty-stricken “informal” settlement, with a population of nearly 12,000 individuals. The village lacks safe, drinkable water, electricity, and sanitation facilities, further exacerbating the despair and hopelessness felt in the community.

With a mission to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the people of Qolweni, the Wagners rented a warehouse and began New Life Church and the New Life after-school program. Amidst the hopelessness that poverty brings, New Life has brought hope for the children and families of Qolweni, and lives are being positively impacted on a daily basis.

Michelle Smith, coordinator of New Life Ministries, shared in a recent letter:

“Many challenges of hunger, sickness, death, and great needs here… but praise be unto God, who has provided so we have been able to buy food for our Church’s most needy! We now celebrate our 1-year anniversary of New Life Ministries Church here in Qolweni… We are feeding the kids everyday in our after school program… This month we have faced additional needs among our Church members, and been able to provide the following support: two orphaned children were given bus fare, school uniforms, shoes, and supplies so they can now attend school; fire burned 4 shacks during Church services about 3 weeks ago, and we were able to buy food, shoes, and clothes for the families who lost everything; two orphaned girls were provided uniforms and money for school, and one pregnant lady given clothes and shoes; an 8-year-old child received medical care and dental attention for a broken tooth which had to be removed, and medicine for infection and worms; three families received a 2-week supply of food for their children, and every Sunday 10-15 families receive a weekly food parcel at our Church.”
