Paula White Ministries Supports Youth Mentoring InitiativeTuesday, July 10, 2007 Paula White Ministries sponsors 1000 Women For Mentoring, a special initiative created by Mentor, The National Mentoring Partnership, to address the huge demand of over 14 million American children in need of, and desiring, a mentor and positive role model in their lives. Mentor was founded in 1990 with the mission of leading “the national movement to connect America’s young people with the power of mentoring.” Although three million children are currently being mentored, and 44-million adults have expressed interest in serving as mentors, the need to connect the 14 million-plus children and teens on the waiting-list is immense. According to Mentor, the stakes involved in not meeting the great need for qualified and well-trained mentors include:
To address these issues, Mentor seeded a network of 28 Mentoring Partnerships across the U.S. that work with direct-service mentoring programs to address local mentoring needs. Mentor also shares information and best-practices so that the mentoring community functions effectively, and serves as a powerful advocate, promoting dialogue between national leaders and mentoring experts. (See http://www.mentoring.org for more information.) Paula White Ministries is proud to support Mentor’s work with America’s greatest asset – our children! Thank you, partners and friends, for making it happen! ,i>J.A. Morton, Staff Writer |
