Overcoming: Reaching for Wholeness

A New Teaching Article On Overcoming

In order to stop wearing a mask, I must be healthy and whole. Wholeness is “nothing missing and nothing broken.” Its when your soul has everything it needs in Christ, and there are no shattered pieces of your soul still living in the past. To reach that state of being, there are some things you MUST know. You must know your unconditional human worth and value; you must know God’s love; and you must experience continual growth.

These ingredients will turn you into an overcomer! When a believer has these 3 things, they are dangerous to the kingdom of darkness! We need to get WHOLE in the body of Christ so we can lead others to wholeness in Him. Are you ready to become whole and take others with you? Let’s go!

UNCONDITIONAL HUMAN WORTH

As a creation of the most High God, you are important and valuable as a person because your “core” self is unique and of infinite, eternal, unchanging value. You are just as precious as any other person. No one is more “valuable” than you, nor are you more valuable than anyone else.

God is not a respecter of persons; in other words, He doesn’t value one over another..regardless of socioeconomic position, accomplishments, criminal background, or even good works. We are all precious to Him. Everyone has equal value. External things neither add to or diminish your true worth to Him. Man appraises people on a different system. Don’t confuse Gods value of you with people’s value of you. We become limitless in Christ when we can operate apart from man’s appraisal, and only focus on God’s appraisal of us. God’s value of us should be the only value that matters.

For it is not he who commends himself that is approved,
but he whom the Lord commends.
2 Cor 10:18

Your worth is stable and not in jeopardy, even when others reject you or think that they are better. As the verse above states, only the ones whom God commends are approved…not the one who man commends. Our worth doesn’t have to be earned or proved. It already exists because of who created us.

GOD’S LOVE

We can’t love ourselves and our neighbors unless we truly experience the love of God. When I say experience, I mean more than “mental assent.” I mean more than you accepting in your mind the idea that God loves you. I am talking about a face to face experience with the One who loves you the most. I am talking about being in worship and feeling His presence touch you. I am talking about experiencing Jesus Christ come to you, caress your face and hearing Him say to you, “If you only knew how precious you are…” His love will melt every frozen heart, every heart of stone, every brokenness within. His love will melt it into a healed place.

We have to experience God’s love in a personal way before we can ever begin to try to give it to others. Our love for others and our love for ourselves will always be unequal, spotty and inconsistent until we experience His love personally. When we experience His love, we can view others and ourselves as having equal value, without regard to external things. Equality is only achieved by people coming to know Gods love. Experiencing His love enables us to see ourselves and other people as He sees them.

CONTINUAL GROWTH

God will put you on a journey when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior! We see this journey in David’s life. David was a man after Gods own heart. The Messiah even comes from David’s family line!

David went through a process of continual growth. This process of continual growth represents a pattern in God’s kingdom that is used to prepare us to become spiritually mature. David was given challenges in different “levels” to strengthen him and make him a mighty warrior. God will do the same with you!

First: David was “anointed” “in the midst of his brethren by Samuel” (1 Samuel 16:13). In this case, the ‘anointing’ represents the beginning of the Christian journey -- where you recognize that God has chosen you in Christ, and that you are being trained and disciplined to fight and overcome your personal “bears,” “lions,” and “Goliaths.” You will have to face yours and your Daddy’s demons. You will overcome!

Second: David was anointed “over all Judah by the men of Judah” (2 Samuel 2:4). This is where your faith in the Lord has secured you a stronger and more certain authority. Judah was a city in Israel. We could even think of it as the “faith capital” of Israel. Even if all Israel fell away, there were still faithful people in Judah. Judah was the heart of Israel. Because of David’s victories with the bears, lions and Goliaths in his personal life…he was trusted with power and authority. Be faithful with a little..and He will make you a ruler over much. Overcome your personal struggles…and God will position you to lead!

Third: David was anointed “over all Israel by the elders” (2 Samuel 5:3). The final anointing is the greatest -- where “Christ in us will prevail.” David has excelled not only personally, but has excelled as a leader. He has emerged from anonymity to become a leader..and now he has emerged from leadership as a leader of leaders! Take the limits off of God! You can be transformed by your trials, and reach a maturing place through your journey that you never dreamed of!

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

In order to stop wearing a mask, we have to be healthy and whole. Whole people don’t need a mask to function because they know their unconditional human worth; God’s love; and experience continual growth. We must become overcomers! We must shed the identity assigned to us by the enemy and take on the identity GOD has for us. Are you ready to become whole?

God WILL give you the power to overcome – because you are already anointed with His “overcoming” Spirit! There are some trials and challenges that simply cannot be shortened or bypassed, because they are part of the process to becoming whole. God uses your life’s pressures to prepare you for your destiny! Take the limits off!

As you conquer your personal “bears, lions and Goliaths,” I am believing for your elevation to a leader and “leader of leaders” just like David! Let’s go on the journey that God has set before us.

Testimony

Hello Pastor Paula, first of all I love to hear you speak. You are truly anointed by God. Recently I was watching one of your sermons on TV and you were preaching about how we are always asking God for his presents instead of his presence. During the sermon you had a gentleman standing with gifts and you were on your knees showing how we should give praise to God!! That spoke right to my soul and convicted me all at the same time. I know that I am guilty of asking God for all of his gifts instead of seeking his presence. While watching you I felt the presence of God all around me and I was so overjoyed and thankful for all of His goodness that I could barely contain myself. It took me a good half hour just to be able to stop crying. That sermon was such a blessing to me and something that I needed to hear. Thank you so much for the great works that you do. I pray that God continues to bless and keep you.
